OK hopefully you’ve been to the website and found out about me. Good now here’s what happens next.
I’m going to walk you through the stages and explain the various things you need to be doing if you are serious about making a career in music. They are designed to save you money and are aimed at what you can be doing even if you don’t have a manager.
We start everything off with a personal phone call where you get to know me and I get to know you. You’ll need to tell me a little bit about yourself now as I need to know what you’ve done right and what you’ve done wrong.
After that there will be a series of videos where we look at all the stages of artist development, what you need to do and when you need to do it. Building a career is what helps you survive in such a vastly changing industry today and keeping on top of everything is the key to that survival.
We look at what to do at the very beginning and before you work and collaborate with anyone.
Then there’s management. What to look for and when to look for them.
Record companies, what they will do for you and how to find out if they’d be interested in you.
What record companies want from you and how best to approach them.
What a publisher can do for you. Preparation for both the media and music industry is something record companies won’t do for you. How you present yourself is absolutely vital and irrespective of whether or not you’re signed. The people you work with need to know they can work with you.
What to look for if you decide to work with a publicist and more importantly if and when you might need one.
How do you approach radio in the current market? We’ll look at plus other avenues of promotion available to you.
Creating your own story. Who you are and what will make you stand out from the crowd.
The art of promotion and what you can be doing as the artist.
Visibility on the road and how best to approach touring.
Together with the videos you will be able to access the website for insider knowledge and you will receive a free copy of my e- book,
Insights from the Engine Room, lessons learned from rock and roll which will give you first hand information of what I learned and what artists like U2 and David Bowie did at pivotal moments of their career. You’ll learn about drive and passion and about how it made Simon Cowell who he is after being bankrupt!
And at the end we’ll speak again on the phone and I’ll advise you on moving forward and any options or opportunities I may have identified while working with you.
Working with artists was what I always enjoyed the most and as each artist is very different it’s important to know as much as possible about who you are working with, that’s why I see the value in the personal calls, you need to take the time to understand that.
